The Good Old Days – I’ve been reminiscing all those years of blogging

The Good Old Days

Trying to think about something to post about today and couldn’t come up with a topic to write about until I got to thinking back to when I used to post several times a day. Yup, although this domain is new, I’m not new to the blogging world. But how did I manage to do that? So I opened up The Way Back Machine.

I discovered how long I’ve been doing this after searching through the old archives and finding the first blog post I ever created on WordPress. Furthermore, it brought back memories of the days when I ran my own server at home and hosted my own website using Apache and a DNS Alias service.

Looking back at those early blog entries, I understood why I had written so many of them—they were mostly brief summaries of my day. They were essentially journal entries or diary entries. If you count the days when the site was a BBS (bulletin board service), it has been a little over 20 years since I changed it from a BBS to a blog.

So it all started with a post on November 19th, 2004.

Looking back I realized that I swore a lot in my posts. I guess I didn’t really give a crap about the audience back then. Things were different back then though too. People weren’t so easily offended as they are these days. Ahh, the good old days, I miss them so much.

So my first blog post/journal entry was probably from when I first set up the WordPress CMS on my Apache server. It basically says that I must have been up all night trying to set it all up and it didn’t look like I got much done on the surface.

Wow!
You would think this would have a crap load of shit done to it by now, considering I just spent the whole night fucking around with it. Managed to get the cam link back up for you peeping Toms.
Well, it’s late so I’m gonna crash. Have to go shopping for groceries and be back here for the cable guy to install the Rogers Extreme Speed Internet.

G’night

My living room used to be equipped with a live webcam that I would stream all day and night. Back then, it was a thing. The new developments in video streaming technology were a big draw for visitors to your website. We will be implementing a pet cam next year that will stream 24/7. So that’s something for you to look forward to.

Looking back and reminiscing on the good old days on all these old posts gave me the idea of starting a series called “Friday Flashbacks.” It will consist of old posts I did way back in the olden days. I’ll post the ones that make things look so crazy compared to today. For example, I go on about a new ISP Connection that gave me the whopping speed of a 434.3 KB/sec transfer rate. I was ecstatic over how fast that was, LOL!

They will mention some old blogging buddies who have since passed away or stopped blogging completely. Should be a fun emotional stroll down memory lane.

Cheers!
