The true cost of that $250 Tax Rebate from the Liberal/NDP government

$250 Tax Rebate

In this post, we’re diving into the wonderfully perplexing world of the Trudeau $250 Tax Rebate — and trust me, it’s about as delightful as a root canal. So, grab your calculators, folks; let’s crunch some numbers.

The Illusion of Prosperity in Trudeau’s Canada

The Liberal/NDP government’s $250 tax rebate is like a magician’s trick, making the average Canadian taxpayer feel lightened by $322. In George Orwell’s 1984 war is peace, freedom is slavery and ignorance is strength. In Trudeau’s Canada, poverty is hailed as prosperity, spending is rebranded as saving, and affordability is just a cheeky synonym for inflation.

Justin Trudeau has openly declared that he has a slight learning disability, asking Canadians to overlook it since he doesn’t really grasp monetary policy. His brilliant revelations include that “the budget will balance itself” and that he’s perfectly fine letting the bankers take the wheel on the economy. What’s next? A seminar on how to juggle chainsaws?

The Cost of Generosity: Breaking Down Trudeau’s Rebate Plan

Trudeau's mountain of Debt

Now, let’s break down some numbers that Trudeau himself might struggle with. The government wants to hand out a $250 Tax Rebate to every hard-working Canadian earning under $150,000 in 2023. They estimate that about 18.7 million people will qualify, which totals a tidy $4.7 billion. But, spoiler alert—this “generosity” is completely funded by borrowed money, which means it’s just adding more to the taxpayer’s credit card bill.

To make matters juicier, the government is selling bonds at a modest 3.5% interest. If we generously assume they’ll manage to pay this off in 15 years (cue the laughter), taxpayers will be stuck with an extra $2.5 billion in interest. So now, the real cost of this oh-so-thoughtful rebate creeps up to a whopping $7.2 billion.

And wait, there’s more! According to Joe Carson’s: Diagnosis of Red Tape, the government squanders $0.39 of every tax dollar on red tape and other delightful inefficiencies. This means administering our little rebate will cost an extra $2.8 billion. When you neatly add the rebate, the interest, and bureaucratic waste, this $250 “gift” balloons to around $10 billion.

Now, let’s ponder this gem: in 2022, a grand total of 31 million Canadians filed their taxes. That means 31 million people are coughing up about $322 each so 18.7 million people can receive about $250. It’s a stunning 29% pay cut on the kindness of the government’s “affordability” measures!

The Economic Games of Government: A Concerned Citizen’s Perspective

Look, I’m not an economist, just an everyday Canadian who can perform basic math. If I can see that this policy turns up more economic woes than solutions, we’re left with a couple of possibilities. Either this government is astonishingly incompetent or they’re so self-serving they’d sabotage your financial well-being just to curry favour at the voting booth, all while cleverly avoiding accountability for their charming antics. Either way, it’s abundantly clear—this government seems to have a real knack for playing games with the well-being of Canadians.

In My Opinion

Justin Trudeau can keep his $250 bribe. In fact, I would rather trade that $250 Tax Rebate for an early election. Or maybe every Canadian should donate that $250 to the opposition just so we can get that bozo out of office. I’m sure the Conservatives could use a few billion to run their campaign to run Trudeau out of the country, err… I mean out of office!

Conclusion: The $250 Tax Rebate Fiasco – A Comedic Tragedy

Extremely Angry Canadian at the Canadian Taxes and Canadian Debt in Canada

So there you have it, folks: the $250 tax rebate is less of a financial boon and more of a well-executed magic trick—where the real prize is tucked neatly into the government’s pocket, concealed behind a flurry of confetti and false promises. It’s like receiving a gift-wrapped box only to find it empty—leaving you scratching your head and searching for the catch. With all the complexities and hidden costs, it’s clear that this rebate is just another chapter in Trudeau’s ongoing economic comedy.
