Fall 2024 has arrived

Fall 2024 - greenhouse

Well, it’s unmistakably Fall, whether you like it or not. You can no longer ignore the trees blazing with colour and the nights biting with cold, as we’ve received our first frost warning of the season to seal the deal. The air’s icy fingers clutch at you every morning with ruthless precision. Sweaters and warmer clothes aren’t just an option; they’re a mandatory shield against the penetrating chill. The days whittle away to nothing, and the riot of red, orange, and yellow leaves transforms every stroll into an audacious display of nature’s power. As we brace ourselves for the onslaught of the upcoming holidays, the atmosphere crackles with a palpable sense of anticipation and electric excitement.

Frost Warning make it officially Fall

This is the time of year when you need to dress like an onion. Mornings are so chilly you’re convinced you’ve been teleported to Antarctica, but by the afternoon, you’re in your t-shirt, sweating like you’re in a sauna!

With a mild frost expected early tomorrow morning, I eagerly spent some time sealing up the greenhouse and filling the fuel tank for the Diesel Heater. I lovingly brought all the potted plants into the greenhouse to extend their lively journey—Jalapeno peppers along with the regular peppers, mulberry bush, and olive tree. Now the greenhouse is joyfully packed full.

Fall is actually a glorious reprieve from the oppressive heat of summer. The weather is so perfect it’s almost criminal, giving you the energy to tackle tasks like mowing the lawn one last time and trimming that unruly tree out back. You can throw open your windows, let the crisp air flood your home, and finally silence that power-guzzling air conditioner. But of course, as soon as you start to enjoy it, Fall slips through your fingers. Wouldn’t it be great if the best season actually lasted?

Well, I better get going and start preparing supper. Brought in some fresh carrots, tomatoes, wax beans, and peppers and going to get the BBQ going.

Cheers! 🍻
