Well here is Flashback Fridays Chapter 4, a weekly series of entertaining and fun flashbacks of blog posts I’ve written over the past 20 years of blogging. It’s surreal to consider that I’ve been blogging for 20 years.

Using the Wayback Machine to select a few old posts that we believe would be both interesting and humorous and to post them each week in this Flashback Fridays series. So, let’s take a look at what was going through my mind all those years ago.

When I was younger, I was such a nerd. Please use your discretion when reading these posts because I apparently used profanity a lot.

Let’s get to Flashback Fridays Chapter 4!

Security Issue

November 26th, 2004 by MacBros

I had to turn on an extra security feature on the blog.
Only registered visitors are allowed to post comments to the blog. Registration is free.
I have been getting these fucken casino spammers posting their links in my comments.
Not anymore their not!

Comment spammers. Every blogger’s nightmare. This is before Jetpack or any comment spam plugins were available. The only way to combat them at this time was to enable comment registration which required you to register an account on my blog. This way only people I approved were allowed to comment.

This way sucked because people don’t like to have to register just to make a simple comment, but this was our only way back then. It wasn’t a big problem for frequent visitors, but for new readers, it was probably a pain in the ass and they never bothered. I probably missed out on a lot of great conversations back in the day because of spammers.

Lazy, Lazy, Lazy, Lazy day.

November 27th, 2004 by MacBros

I was hoping to get some crap done here, but I just don’t have the drive to get movin’
I sprawled my lazy ass on the couch and watched ‘ A Sharks Tale ‘ again. My older brother Dave dropped by earlier today to see if his editing jobs on his picture show worked on my DVD Player.
Come to think of it, he’s the first person to drop in since I’ve moved in here. Wow! How pathetic is that..?
Anyway, feeling kinda lazy today, if I get some extra energy, I’ll update the site. If not, meh. Oh well.

afta’, afta’

I used to have these burnout days often. For some reason, I kept having moments where I would have absolutely no energy to do anything. Sometimes causing me to call in sick for work because I felt completely exhausted all the time. Doctors kept telling me to exercise more which was weird because I wasn’t overweight or anything, and I walked a mile to and from work every day back then.

Turns out after two decades of this my girlfriend tells me that I stop breathing in my sleep a lot and this ends up being the reason for my problems with being constantly drained of energy. I have sleep apnea!

Time To Be Constructive!

November 28th, 2004 by MacBros

Ok, just got out of the shower and grabbed a coffee and I’m now sitting my lazy ass in front of the computer to get some work done on this site. I’m off today because I took a paid day off just for some extra R&R. I had gained some extra Vacation hours so I used up 8 of them for today.

Now as far as this site goes, I’m not happy with the way it’s looking already. I find it too bland and blank. I’m making everything from scratch because as you may already know (If you’ve been reading this blog lately) I lost all my websites due to a hard drive crash and I didn’t back up the site (Stupid, I know. Already beating myself up over that one) so everything is going to be a little plain for a while, just until I think up a new theme. Though I did like the grass and sand dune look of the last one I did.

Well enough chit, chat. I’ve got work to do.

l8er dude and dudettes…

Back-up! Back-Up! Back-Up!

Wow! I was so pissed off when I lost all those posts from a hard drive failure. Lost my entire website and server. Backing up wasn’t as easy as it is today with cloud storage and cheaper hard drives. I think I had a 500 MB hard drive that cost me around $500 back then. Insane right? Shit was expensive back in the good old days.

Not only did I run my own server back then, but I also designed and coded all of my own websites then too. I loved that shit! Now, being away from it for so long, I am out of touch and the tech has changed so much that it would take me a long time to catch up.

But you never know with me. Maybe something or someone will inspire me again.
