Sick as a dog

A Quick Update for Everyone – Sick as a Dog

If you have been wondering why things have gone quiet around here lately, there is a simple explanation.

I have been sick as a dog.

For the last four days, I have barely been able to function. The kind of sick where getting off the couch feels like a major accomplishment. The kind of sick where your brain says, “go get something done,” and your body replies with a loud and very firm “no.”

That is why there have been no posts, no updates, and no new videos.

Everything came to a grinding halt.

The Work That Is Piling Up

A workspace featuring a large monitor displaying data graphs, surrounded by potted seedlings in trays, notebooks, a camera, headphones, and a microphone, with a cozy couch in the background.

The timing of this whole thing could not have been worse.

This time of year is busy. I have seeds that need to be planted so they are ready for this year’s crop. Those seedlings need time to grow before they go into the greenhouse. Anyone who grows food knows there is a schedule to follow. Plants do not care if you are feeling miserable on the couch.

My YouTube channel also has a growing backlog. Videos still need editing. Clips still need to be prepared. Uploads still need to happen.

All of that work has been sitting there waiting while I have spent the last several days feeling like I was run over by a truck.

For four and a half days, I have accomplished absolutely nothing.

And that has been incredibly frustrating.

The Stomach Bug From Hell

Somewhere along the way, I picked up a stomach bug that can only be described as brutal.

One moment, I was sitting at my desk editing a video like any other normal day.

The next moment, my stomach decided to stage a violent protest.

There was no warning.

No friendly heads up.

No time to run to the bathroom.

One second, I was editing a video, and the next second, I was vomiting all over my workstation.

Yes. All over it.

My keyboard took the worst of the damage. That poor thing sacrificed itself in the line of duty. I tried cleaning everything as best as I could afterward, although the room still smells like a disaster zone.

Every now and then, I catch a whiff of that smell, and my stomach starts doing backflips again.

Needless to say, video editing has not been happening.

Dehydration and a Lot of Water Bottles

A messy living room with scattered empty plastic water bottles on the floor, a couch in the background, and a bathroom visible in the distance.

On top of the vomiting, dehydration became a real problem.

I went through an entire flat of water bottles trying to keep fluids in my body. Every time I drank something, my stomach treated it like a challenge.

Drink water.
Wait a bit.
Run to the bathroom.

And yes, the other end joined the party too.

I will spare you the ugly details, though the bathroom and I have spent a lot of quality time together over the last few days.

I have no idea if this was a stomach flu or some random virus that decided to move in and trash the place. Whatever it was, it left me feeling like a sack of hammered poo 💩.

That description might even be polite.

The Room Still Feels Like It Is Spinning

Right now, I am still feeling pretty rough.

My energy level is about the same as a phone with one percent battery left. Standing up for too long makes the room spin like a carnival ride that nobody asked for.

Not exactly the best condition for working, filming, editing, or doing anything productive.

That is why I wanted to write this post. I figured it was better to let people know what has been going on rather than disappearing without a word.

The Plan for the Next Few Days

For now, the plan is simple.

Drink water.
Rest.
Try to recover.

I will be spending a lot of time on the couch watching TV and waiting for my stomach to stop acting like it wants to start another riot.

Once this bug finally leaves my system, I will start catching up on everything that has piled up.

The seeds still need planting.
The videos still need editing.
And I definitely need a new keyboard. (Got one from Amazon already – hence this post)

Thanks for Checking In

So that is the situation.

Four days of being sick as a dog has knocked everything off schedule and left me feeling like absolute garbage.

Hopefully, this stomach bug disappears soon so I can get back to normal and start working through the backlog that has built up.

Thanks for checking in and wondering where I disappeared to.

If you actually care at all.

LOL.
