Finding Our Groove Again at Mac’s Opinion

Mac Getting his groove on

In today’s post, we’re going to cover what it’s like writing a victim impact statement and dealing with Long Covid, but first, we should mention something. If you’re a regular here at Mac’s Opinion, you might’ve noticed that our daily posts have taken a holiday—probably sipping on a piña colada while lounging on a beach somewhere.

For a while, we were like the Avengers of content creation, with multiple Authors (Admins) tackling a smorgasbord of topics, leading to an unintentional flurry of daily posts. It was a bit like a game of literary tag; one Author would finish a piece, and before you knew it, someone else was diving in with their masterpiece, resulting in a delightful chaos of words. Now, we’re just trying to find our groove again!

A couple of authors have hit the pause button to manage their personal lives; some are navigating the thrilling school drop-off carpool, while others are diving into the full-time adventure of home-schooling—because who doesn’t love a surprise pop quiz? They promised to return when the stars align in their schedules because they genuinely enjoy sharing their thoughts here. Speaking of sharing, if you’re itching to guest post, just shoot us a line on the contact page—no algebra required!

Mac’s homestead has also been busy lately.

If you have been following our ordeal with “those who shall not be named,” you’ve likely been on the edge of your seat wondering what’s brewing in our saga. Well, grab your popcorn! We’ve been in a back-and-forth tango with Victim Services, meticulously crafting our victim impact statements for the Crown—because apparently, revisiting trauma is the new therapy trend.

After two years of dealing with that nightmare, you’d think the process would resemble a leisurely stroll, but no. Reliving those events in court last August was like watching a horror movie on repeat, and running into that monster. Let’s just say it was an unforgettable episode. Now we find ourselves diving back into our emotional archives, detailing the mental, physical, and financial havoc wrought upon us—not to mention the long-term effects of dealing with such a daunting creature. What a plot twist!

We have submitted the victim impact statements to assist the judge in making informed sentencing decisions. It is evident that the situation does not favour the defence, especially if they are seeking sympathy from the judge for the defendant. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the defendant will not remain in our jurisdiction after November 20th, as they will be transported north.

Sadly, we’re still stuck dealing with the brainwashed minions she’s cultivated with her endless sob stories, painting herself as the ultimate victim. Living in a close-knit community means we hear everything, and it’s amusing how quickly these gossipers spill the tea, bringing their ridiculous tales back to us. It’s downright hilarious how people will blindly trust anyone who plays the sympathy card, all while conveniently ignoring the truth.

Maybe after November 20th, unleashing all the videos, texts, pictures, and audio clips that were presented as evidence online will slam people’s eyes wide open, making them confront the ugly reality of what a truly despicable person she is, revealing the stark truth and shattering the delusions she’s been feeding the community. They’ll realize she’s far from a victim; if anything, she’s crafted her own narrative of victimhood.

Mastering symptoms of LONG COVID

Suffering from Long Covid symptoms.

Way back in March of this year, I fell victim to the pesky plague known as COVID, the ultimate party crasher. It was a dreadful affair, and let me tell you, I’m grateful for those shots—because without them, I’d probably be writing my memoir from a hospital bed! Once the COVID curtain fell, I was graced with a delightful performance of post-nasal drip, a show that lasted nearly a month.

If you’ve ever danced the PND tango, you know it’s no easy feat to get any Z’s while hacking away like a seasoned pirate—you can’t lie down, lean back, or even utter a word without entering a coughing symphony! I coughed so fiercely that I managed to dislodge a crystal in my ear, leading to my new role as the star of permanent vertigo: music to my spinning head!

At first, the outpatient doctors downplayed my condition, handing me medication that was about as effective as a chocolate teapot. Then I saw my family doctor, who diagnosed me with permanent vertigo—talk about a plot twist! It turns out a piece of my ear bone (fondly referred to as a “crystal”) decided to break free and take a joyride in my ear canal, wreaking havoc on my balance. So, you know, good times! Not!

After a few months have passed I have since been feeling extremely tired all the time with a complete lack of energy. I thought that my sleep apnea was getting worse because before I started using a CPAP machine this was the same feeling of exhaustion I was having all the time because I wasn’t sleeping well. But I have also had a lot of brain fog lately, and I am always dizzy and lightheaded and it isn’t the vertigo either.

I made the comment, jokingly, that I was getting senile and losing my memory and couldn’t stand or walk anymore as a joke to Miss Mac and she suggested that I might have long COVID. “Nah,” I said. But I looked it up anyway and BLAMO! There it is looking right back at me. All the symptoms that I’ve been experiencing.
Common symptoms of long COVID include:

  • Extreme tiredness, especially after activity. ✅
  • Problems with memory, are often called brain fog. ✅
  • A feeling of being lightheaded or dizzy. ✅
  • Problems with taste or smell. ❌

Other symptoms of long COVID include:

  • Sleep problems. ✅
  • Shortness of breath. ✅
  • Cough. ❌
  • Headache. ✅
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat. 🤔
  • Digestion problems, such as loose stools, constipation or bloating. ✅ (Lots of cramping)

The fact these symptoms have lasted this long and reading that article says it could last for months or even YEARS! What’s a guy to do if this doesn’t go away? FML!

I will need to schedule an appointment with my doctor to discuss her professional opinion on the matter and to explore any potential solutions, despite the information I have encountered indicating that options may be limited. Nevertheless, it is prudent to have this consultation documented in case I require medical documentation in the future.
